We are delighted to be extending our partnership with SportsAid and offering more help to young athletes.
Every aspiring athlete who receives funding from SportsAid can get free membership at GLL leisure centres around the UK.
Thanks to an extension to SportsAid's long-term partnership with GLL - which also provides direct financial support for more than 80 SportsAid athletes nationwide through the GLL Sport Foundation - the charitable social enterprise has now become SportsAid's ‘National Fitness Provider’.
This provides over one thousand of the UK’s most promising young sportsmen and women access to over 150 sport and leisure venues across the UK run by GLL and its partners nationwide, including venues like London 2012’s Copper Box Arena and Aquatics Centre as well as the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
Tim Lawler, Chief Executive, SportsAid said, “We are very pleased to be able to offer this great new benefit to our athletes. Training time is a critical element of an athlete’s development and often yet another cost for them to consider. This provision by GLL, already a long-standing SportsAid partner, is warmly welcomed, and will have a positive impact to athletes continued development.”
Peter Bundey, Deputy Managing Director at GLL and Chair of the GLL Sport Foundation, added, “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with SportsAid and offering more help to young athletes. Working with SportsAid gives us the confidence that we are helping the right people at the right time and in the right way. These athletes have an exciting future ahead of them and we are proud to be part of it.”
