Every SportsAid athlete who competes in an aquatics sport, including triathlon, can claim a 25% discount from Speedo’s online shop during the year in which they received their SportsAid Award.
In 2014 alone, the partnership meant around 170 of the UK’s brightest prospects in swimming, disability swimming, diving, waterpolo, synchronised swimming, triathlon and paratriathlon could save money on vital equipment to help them on their journey to success in their sport.
Former world champion swimmer James Hickman, who is now works at Speedo, said, “As an ex-swimmer and SportsAid recipient I know how important it is to get that support early on in your career. It’s also really expensive for athletes and parents so we hope this will help the SportsAid talented athletes in aquatics climb the next rung of the ladder. Good luck!”
The value of this support from Speedo was highlighted last year in the findings of SportsAid’s latest athlete survey, in which 73% of the respondents said that the most valuable assistance the charity could provide in addition to the financial support of a SportsAid Award would be discounts on kit and equipment.
