Sport England is one of SportsAid's longest-standing partners. The body is working towards an active nation where everyone feels able to do sport and activity, no matter what their age, background or gender. SportsAid and Sport England work together on the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme and Backing The Best. Sport England is a non-departmental public body under the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
UK Sport supports the country's best Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and co-ordinates bids for staging major international sporting events. The body is responsible for investing around £100 million of public funds each year – from both the National Lottery and the Exchequer – in high-performance sport. UK Sport is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) is a Sport England funded partnership between talented athletes, education institutions and the national governing bodies of sport. The Scheme helps athletes in education – aged 16-plus – to get the very best from their sporting and academic careers without having to make a choice between the two. SportsAid has overseen and managed TASS since it was launched in 2004.
