You could win two tickets to see Sir Elton John LIVE at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 15 June 2019! SportsAid is running a special competition, in conjunction with Rocket Sports Management, giving you the chance to be there for the second show of Elton’s eagerly anticipated Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
The tour consists of more than 300 shows across five continents, hitting North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australasia, before reaching its conclusion in 2021. The show at the Cardiff City Stadium is Elton’s last in Wales and will be his 10th visit to the capital, having first performed in the city in 1976, playing two nights at the Capitol Theatre.

Sir Elton has a long-standing association with SportsAid, stretching back to the late 1970s, and the avid sports fan hosted a fundraising concert which generated over £300,000 for the charity at Stoke Park Golf Club back in 2014. This led to the Elton John Sports Fund being launched by Rocket Sports Management.
The Fund provides young British athletes with financial support, recognition and personal development opportunities, through SportsAid, during the critical early stages of their careers. Each athlete receives an annual £1,500 award which contributes towards their various training and competition costs.
Since the partnership began five years ago, the Elton John Sports Fund has enjoyed a number of success stories with Olympic bronze medallist Daryll Neita and Gregg Warburton, a leading member of GB wheelchair basketball's world championship winning squad, both previous beneficiaries of support.
"I understand that it is vital for young people to get support and encouragement at this stage of their lives, especially when they have shown so much promise but face so many challenges and potential distractions,” said Elton. “We want to keep them in sport - they are fantastic role models and we should acknowledge this."
WHAT IS SPORTSAID WEEK?
You can make a real difference to the future of British sport by getting involved in SportsAid Week 2019 this September! The week of fun and fundraising is designed to support the country’s most talented young sports stars as they strive to represent Team GB and ParalympicsGB at future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Fundraising is a key income stream and SportsAid Week has generated close to £150,000 since 2016. Olympians, Paralympians, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), schools, universities, commercial organisations and individual supporters come together each year to shine a real spotlight on the charity.
Bake sales, healthy eating challenges, sports quizzes, fancy dress days, athlete demonstrations, bucket collections, prize draws and raffles have all proven popular in the past. It really is up to you as to how you show your support - whether it's on your own or with friends, family and colleagues - and you decide the size of your event!
The #MyMiles Challenge is also returning to SportsAid Week for a third year as it continues to grow in popularity. The challenge, which encourages supporters to keep young athletes company as they train and compete, saw the introduction of the #MyMiles Schools Challenge in 2018. The overall total is close to breaking 20,000 miles!
