SportsAid alumni win incredible 101 medals at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

ParalympicsGB finished second on the medal table behind China. The contribution made by SportsAid alumni towards ParalympicsGB’s 124 medals would place the charity in third ahead of the United States, Holland, Brazil and Italy.   

Cycling star Daphne Schrager was the first member of our alumni to win a medal as she claimed silver in the Women’s C1-3 Individual Pursuit….and canoeing sensation Jack Eyers wrapped up the Games as he took silver in the Men’s Va’a Single 200m VL3. A real highlight for SportsAid also saw six current beneficiaries competing for ParalympicsGB including Didi Okoh who secured bronze in the Women's 100m T63.
 
157 members of ParalympicsGB previously received financial support, recognition and personal development opportunities from SportsAid. Since 1976, the charity acted as the major source of funding for the country’s top athletes before the arrival of the National Lottery in 1997. UK Sport’s formation led to SportsAid focusing on helping talented young sports stars at a crucial point in their development….and fundraising has been a key income stream in allowing the charity to do this.
