Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge

Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales became SportsAid's Patron in 2013. Her support is helping to shine a brighter light on the achievements and potential of the UK's most talented young athletes.

She has spent time with many of the country's up-and-coming sports stars, as well as previous beneficiaries, at the charity's training days and workshops. She has also met several of SportsAid's biggest partners and supporters at fundraising events such as the SportsBall, while recognising the dedication and commitment shown by young athletes and their families through her backing of SportsAid Week.

Princess of Wales shows support for Mind Health programme alongside Prince of Wales

Their Royal Highnesses The Princess and Prince of Wales joined SportsAid athletes and their families at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre for a workshop dedicated to mental health and wellbeing. The Princess and The Prince had the opportunity to see the support being offered by the charity as they contributed to two themed sessions followed by a couple of practical exercises.

The Duchess of Cambridge champions Team England Futures with The Duke and Princess Charlotte

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated SportsAid’s support for talented young athletes and aspiring support staff as they championed the Team England Futures programme on a visit to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Duke and Duchess were also joined by Princess Charlotte.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge joined SportsAid at the London Stadium to champion the parents and guardians of talented young athletes while highlighting the important role they play in British sporting success. The Duchess delivered a speech to guests where she shared her admiration for the parents and guardians.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge showed their support for SportsAid and Britain’s brightest sporting prospects as they joined the charity to celebrate the Commonwealth at the Copper Box Arena. The visit came before the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and took a look ahead to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge delivers speech at SportsAid’s 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge praised SportsAid for ensuring 'there is a strong pipeline of inspirational heroes' as she addressed guests at the charity's 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner. The Duchess said 'the brilliance of SportsAid is in really understanding just how much athletic competition gives to our country as a whole'.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge celebrates SportsAid's impact on British sport ahead of Rio 2016

SportsAid's 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner saw the Duchess meet a number of the charity's alumni and currently supported athletes at Kensington Palace. The special celebration acted as the perfect opportunity to reflect on the crucial role played by SportsAid over the last four decades as guests looked ahead to the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge visits GSK Human Performance Lab to see SportsAid athletes in action

SportsAid athletes experienced a workshop and testing day at the GSK Human Performance Lab in London where they also had a chance to meet The Duchess. She gained a real insight into the testing undertaken by athletes as she watched them use the training facilities to assess strength, power, cognition and body composition at the world-class research centre.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge meets SportsAid athletes and mentors at Home Nation House

The Duchess of Cambridge spent time with 15 rising stars of British sport at a reception hosted by SportsAid at Home Nation House as part of her trip to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Duchess joined a number of mentoring sessions before watching live rowing and cycling demonstrations delivered by SportsAid athletes.

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge presents One-to-Watch Award at SportsAid’s annual SportsBall

The Duchess joined SportsAid at its annual SportsBall where she was able to talk to young athletes about their journeys into sport with the help of SportsAid. Amber Hill, a 16-year-old skeet shooter, was announced as the winner of the charity's prestigious One-to-Watch award by the Duchess at Supernova in Embankment Gardens.

Patron Workshop

HRH The Duchess of Cambridge attends athlete workshop for first engagement as Patron of SportsAid

SportsAid welcomed The Duchess to her first public engagement after the birth of Prince George - an athlete workshop at the Copper Box Arena. She was given an insight into the support provided by SportsAid as 50 young athletes led sports demonstrations before undertaking media, nutrition and mentoring sessions with Olympians and Paralympians.
