SportsAid alumni win incredible 53 medals at Paris 2024 Olympic Games

SportsAid alumni won 12 gold, 16 silver and 25 bronze medals as they starred for Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!

The 53 podium finishes claimed by beneficiaries of the charity's support came across 15 different sports and surpassed the total of 47 medals from Tokyo 2020. Track cycling was the best performing sport for SportsAid alumni with eight medals.

Team GB finished seventh on the medal table behind United States, China, Japan, Australia, France and Netherlands. The contribution made by SportsAid alumni towards Team GB’s 65 medals would place the charity in ninth ahead of European powerhouses Italy and Germany.

Diving stars Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper were the first members of our alumni to win a medal as they took bronze in the Women's Synchronised 3m Springboard….and weightlifting sensation Emily Campbell wrapped up the Games as she took bronze in the Women's 81kg+. A real highlight for SportsAid also saw current beneficiaries Amy Hunt and Sam Reardon return with three relay medals between them from track and field.

224 members of Team GB previously received financial support, recognition and personal development opportunities from SportsAid. Since 1976, the charity acted as the major source of funding for the country’s top athletes before the arrival of the National Lottery in 1997. UK Sport’s formation led to SportsAid focusing on helping talented young sports stars at a crucial point in their development….and fundraising has been a key income stream in allowing the charity to do this.

Why not start supporting the next generation of Olympic heroes as they strive to reach Milano Cortina, Los Angeles and beyond? We would love you to join us on this exciting and highly rewarding journey!
